My Real-Life Daily Schedule for Moms: How I Get Things Done

There’s a quiet hour in my house, just before the sun rises, when everything is still. The baby is asleep. My husband is leaving for work. The day hasn’t started yelling at me yet.

That’s when I sit down to work on something most people don’t even know I’m building: a business that will, hopefully, one day allow me to raise my child fully from home, on my terms, without clocking in for anyone else.

I don’t work crazy hours. I don’t have help. But I do have a system that keeps the house running, lets me show up for my family, and helps me chip away at my big dreams. All in about 3 hours a day. And it all starts with my real-life daily schedule for moms.

This is the routine that makes it possible. And why I stick to it, even on the days when I’m tired, overwhelmed, or wondering if it will all be worth it.

The Story Behind My 3-Hour Workday

Motherhood changes everything.

Before becoming a mom, I never imagined how much of my time, energy, and identity would be poured into caring for another human being. And while I absolutely treasure this season with my baby, I also knew I didn’t want to lose myself in the process.

When my son was born, it became clear pretty quickly that the world doesn’t stop just because you became a mother. The bills still show up, your dreams keep knocking, and there are things you want to build. Not in spite of motherhood, but because of it.

Between 11AM and 2PM, I work a self-employed marketing job. It’s flexible, I can do it from home, and I’m thankful every single day that I don’t have to leave my baby to sit in an office.

But it’s not my dream.

My dream is bigger, slower, more meaningful, rooted in what I want for my family: the freedom to be home, to create, to live intentionally. And Mompublic is the seed of that dream. A media and lifestyle business built around motherhood, presence, creativity, and faith.

My Real-Life Daily Schedule for Moms (What It Actually Looks Like)

This daily schedule for moms isn’t glamorous. It won’t win me any productivity awards. But it works, because it fits the season of life I’m in. It balances paid work, unpaid work, motherhood, and my long-term goals without burning me out.

🌅 5:30 AM — Early Morning Blog Work

The first hour of my day belongs to me and my dream.

I wake up early, pour a cup of coffee, and sit down at my desk while the house is still and quiet. My husband’s leaving for work, my baby is still asleep, and the world hasn’t started asking things of me yet.

In this hour, I work on Mompublic. I write blog posts. I plan content. I design Pinterest pins. I organize the next steps of my long-term business.

This is when my brain is clearest. When I can think, create, and move my goals forward without interruption.

Not every morning feels easy. Some mornings, I’m exhausted. Some mornings, I want to roll back under the covers (and sometimes I do). But I keep showing up because this hour matters more than any excuse.

☀️ 6:30–10:00 AM — Home & Family Rhythm

Once the baby is up, my focus shifts completely to home and family.

These hours are filled with the small, necessary things that keep our home running and our days flowing:

  • Making the bed
  • Quick cleaning the bathroom
  • Unloading and loading the dishwasher
  • Starting a load of laundry
  • Feeding the baby and playing together
  • A quick 15-minute workout, shower, and getting ready

This part of my daily schedule for moms isn’t about checking endless boxes. It’s about keeping things simple, consistent, and manageable, so the house never becomes a source of stress.

🍽️ 10:00–11:00 AM — Midday Reset

After breakfast and playtime, I take an hour to reset the house and prepare for my next work block:

  • A 15-minute zone cleaning task
  • Reviewing what’s for dinner and doing any quick prep
  • Another small laundry task (always a little every day)
  • Preparing the baby’s snack

These daily rhythms keep the chaos at bay and let me transition into work mode without feeling behind.

💻 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM — Marketing Job Block

This is when I clock in for my self-employed marketing work. It’s flexible, it pays the bills, and I’m grateful I can do it from home while taking care of my child.

It’s not my dream job. But it’s a stepping stone. A way to meet today’s needs while I quietly build tomorrow’s freedom.

🕑 2:00–7:00 PM — Family Time, Baby Care & Dinner Prep

When I wrap up my marketing work at 2:00 PM, I shift fully back into mom mode. This part of the day is a little wild, a little unpredictable, but it’s where the real life happens.

These hours are filled with:

  • Baby playtime, outings, or outdoor walks
  • Running errands if needed
  • Folding laundry while the baby plays nearby
  • Managing whatever unexpected things pop up (because let’s be honest, there’s always something)

This is when I consciously choose to be present. No work, no laptop, no multitasking: just mom life, home life, and being with my family.

It’s not always peaceful. There are tantrums, dishes, noise, and messes. But it’s exactly why I’m building this life: so I can be here for all of it.

🌙 Evening — Home Reset & Tomorrow Prep

After dinner, when the baby is asleep, I spend 20-30 minutes resetting the house for the next day:

  • Cleaning the kitchen
  • Tidying the living room
  • Writing out my top 3 priorities for tomorrow
  • Switching laundry if needed

It’s a small effort, but it makes the next morning feel lighter, calmer, and way less chaotic.

Why I Keep Showing Up (Even When It’s Hard)

I don’t follow this daily schedule for moms because I love productivity. I follow it because I want to build a life that lets me be fully present in my family’s story.

Some days are messy. Some days, the baby doesn’t nap, or I don’t get to my blog work. Some days, the routine completely falls apart.

But most days, it works. And over time, those small, imperfect, repeated efforts add up.
